Enrico del Bono is known in the X-Plane community for his very popular addon, FSEnhancer. Today, he has uploaded a set of new Physically Based Rendering (PBR) textures for the Zibo 737-800, and you can get it free of charge (but do consider a small donation).

PBR analyses the light falling on a surface through additional textures, commonly referred to as 'normals'. This technique gives standard textures an added depth of realism, with the possibility to change the metallic, smoothness and albedo of the surface it is applied to.

The technology, although not new in general, was introduced in X-Plane 11.00. Most popular aircraft in X-Plane 11 today use PBR as standard.

Enrico has applied this to leather, plastic, glass and metal, as seen in these screenshots.

Enrico's PBR textures can be downloaded for free here. The texture modification is only available for the 2k texture pack at the moment.

We also recently put together a fascinating article as to what it takes to make an addon like FSEnhancer recently, and you can check it out here.
