Stairport Sceneries & FlightSim Studio’s publish Stuttgart International for XP11

December 18, 2021

Stairport returns with another release shortly following the launch of the 3rd iteration of their popular Scenery Animation Manager, veteran developer Stairport Sceneries announced it would collaborate with boutique scenery developer FlightSim Studios on developing a full visual rendition of Stuttgart International for X-Plane 11.

Stuttgart International was first built in 1939 to replace the deteriorating Böblingen Airport which was later occupied by the U.S. Army at the end of World War 2 in 1945. Operations were subsequently given to German authorities in 1948. It was then later used in many military operations in the future, such as in the Cold War, the airfield was used to assist any U.S. Troops that used Helicopters, the Grumman OV1 Mohawk, and many other aircraft that the army used during the war. Today, the airport forms part of the city’s known role as a transport hub. Seeing nearly 12 million passengers in 2018, it is the sixth busiest airport in Germany.

Stairport is known for its highly detailed scenery, and this release is no different. Following the latest airport plans and developments, the rendition is true to life to the current state of the airport. Modern features such as PBR ground textures are standard issue throughout the airfield. Custom buildings and mesh are populated throughout and surrounding the airport. Hand-placed HD vegetation is also included in the package to provide the airport with some lush greenery. The same attention to detail was applied to light up the airport at night. As with all of Stairport’s releases, the airport is compatible with SAM v3 out of the box. A full feature list has been provided and can be found here:
