BEAUTIFUL MODEL of the WORLD and AmSim Release Oakland International Airport for MSFS
BEAUTIFUL MODEL of the WORLD and AmSim have teamed up to build a rendition of Oakland International Airport (KOAK) for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the 5th busiest airport in California with a yearly average of 6 million passengers.
Opened in September 1927, OAK had the longest runway at the time, at 2,140 meters of extension. It became the airport of choice for many historical flights, such as Charlie Kingsford Smiths’ US-Australia flight in 1928 and Amelia Earhardt’s world circumnavigation (gone wrong).
Commercial service started in late 1927 by the wings of Boeing Air Transport, followed by Trans World Airlines (TWA) in 1932.
During World War 2, Oakland was used by the USAF as Naval Air Station Oakland, serving as an airlift base for flights to the Pacific islands, with passenger scheduled flights being all moved to San Francisco International.
It’s currently served by thirteen airlines: Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, Azores Airlines, Contour Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JSX, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Volotea, and Volaris El Salvador. Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Diego are the busiest destinations, with 671,000, 448,000, and 391,000 passengers.
It’s a cargo hub for FedEx Express, with twenty-two destinations (domestic and international).
The scenery features an accurate rendition of the airport, with animated jetways, custom ground markings, high-resolution custom ground textures, landside buildings, parallax windows, animated BART train, and airline codes assigned to each parking spot.
It’s available on OrbxDirect for roughly $18.56, requiring at least 2.83 GB of free hard disk space to install.
