BITING THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU:

Although we are predominantly an X-Plane Editorial, there are many of our readers that are from the P3D/FSX world too. No-one in the flight sim community could failed to have noticed the recent FSLabs debacle where they openly admitted adding malware to their Airbus A320 installer for Prepar3D v4. The revelations went way beyond the flight sim community, even making a news item on Vice, IBT, PCGamer and other major media outlets.

The ethics of Lefterisgate are perhaps for a future editorial post and it would seem their original intentions though honourable were very misguided. Many of their customers however saw their actions as a major breach of trust and requested some sort of refund policy.

It would seem that FSLabs have responded to this by offering a refund. However, in response by Lefteris of FSLabs to a  recent question in their forums from Liam Giles, that refund is only for people that bought the Prepar3D V4 version and not for those that upgraded for free from P3D 3, presumably with the same infested installer. There does not seem to be a whole lot of logic to this policy and if FSLabs were trying limit damage by offering a refund then this policy has the potential of making that damage worse, not better.
