VATSIM Announces "Cross The Pond Eastbound 2021" Event

VATSIM broke what is a rather fruitless week of news by announcing the 2021 edition of Cross the Pond Eastbound, which will take place on the 30th of October, this follows the Westbound event that took place near the beginning of this year on th 28th of April. The general format for this year is an early departure in the North American morning with an arrival in Europe in time for Halloween ceberations.

The online network has noted that they've stepped up the scale and preparation of Cross The Pond Eastbound, which they announced that their biggest organising team is already being assembled - with all five Oceanic FIRs will take part in the event. Accompanying the FIRs are technical team "to bring more functionality", aviation specialists present to explain oceanic procedures, and their own regional and division airspace experts that will assist virtual pilots get them to their destination.

Today's announcement will serve to kickstart the airfield selection process (with airfield submissions now open), and in the course of the coming months, information aboout picking a slot and the collective transatlantic flight with hundreds of VATSIM users. As a footnote, staff volunteering for the event may submit their airports through https://ctp.vatsim.net/. "The password to submit an application will be sent out to staff. Reach out to your division if you don’t have it."

No further information was provided, though VATSIM recommends users to follow their socials such as on Twitter and their Discord server for the latest updates.
