FlightFactor Adopts New Release Policy for A320 Ultimate
Earlier this week, X-Plane developer FlightFactor has announced its new release policy for its A320 Ultimate product. The new procedure, which involves publishing the content and release date of a new version before the team starts working on it, enables better user input and community feedback. This new format applies to the A320 currently, there’s no news of this being applied to the rest of FlightFactor’s product lineup.
According to the developer’s post, “before working on the next release version, [they] will publish an announcement with the date and content of the following version”. This allows the users to “see what [they] are working on, [and] post wishes and objections”. The team will then utilise the feedback to inform the direction they’re going to take in updating and improving their products.
Furthermore, Flighfactor has revealed that “the average time between releases will be [around] 8-10 weeks”. The first 8 weeks will be used to complete the update and the final 2 weeks will be for testing/hotfixes. Additionally, beta versions will be made available to the users 2 weeks before the final deadline.
Finally, to test out their new release policy, the developers have published their plans for version 1.2.0, which is scheduled for release between Sept 26 2021 and Oct 2 2021.
The major goals for release 1.2.0 are as follows:
- Complete HOLDs
- Flight controls tuning, especially on takeoff and landing
- Finish ALTN F-PLN
- Resolve INIT B and FUEL PRED pages issues
- Various FMGC bugs and unfinished things
