Microsoft Flight Simulator Wins Best Sim/Strategy Game at the Game Awards, Xbox Support Coming Summer 2021
The Game Awards have bestowed Microsoft Flight Simulator one of its first major accolades, taking out the title of “Best Simulator/Strategy Game” at the online event this evening.
A new trailer featuring the simulator on Xbox’s new Series X and Series S products was also shown off.
The Best Simulator/Strategy category had five nominees, with the eventual winner joined by XCOM: Chimera Squad, Gears Tactics, Desperados III and Crusader Kings III. Host Geoff Keighley announced Microsoft Flight Simulator as the winner, giving a short congratulations before moving on to the next category.

Additionally, just a few minutes after the award was announced, a new trailer was shared showing the simulator on Xbox Series X and S. Keighley had this to say about the new footage:
“One of the things I’ve really been missing this year is flying around the world, but luckily we have one of the most beautiful games of the year to help fill that void a little - it just won the Best Sim/Strategy game: Microsoft Flight Simulator.”
“Next year, it’s coming to Xbox. Here’s what that’s going to look like.”
Microsoft Flight Simulator is due for release for Xbox Series X and S in Summer 2021.
