Orbx Releases Essendon Fields Airport for X-Plane 11

October 26, 2021

Home territory beckons for Orbx, who've released their new rendition of Essendon Fields Airport for X-Plane 11 following that of the Microsoft Flight Simulator version this time last month.

Located in Melbourne, Essendon Fields not only houses Australia's second oldest international airport, but also Orbx's headquarters down under. Once the city's primary international airport, it has been resigned to domestic and general aviation duties following the opening of Melborune Tullamarine Airport in 1970.

"Originally called St Johns Airfield and then Essendon Aerodrome, the airport played an important role in Australia’s growing civil aviation industry as well as defense operations during WWII."

"Now known as Essendon Fields Airport, it plays a very important role in the aviation sector for Victoria and hosts a large mix of non-aviation-related businesses."

The list of features includes:

  • Accurate depiction of YMEN Essendon Airport
  • High-quality PBR textures used throughout
  • Custom ground poly
  • Crisp orthoimagery supplied by Aerometrex
  • Custom static Skycrane, AMSA Challenger, and VICPOL/HEMS AW-139s
  • Interior ground floor modeling of terminal
  • Includes the EF Auto Precinct and DFO retail area
  • New Bombardier hangar
  • Developed with the assistance of Essendon Fields Airport

The airport is now available for $22.72 AUD (approx US$17.07 | €14.71 | £12.40) via OrbxDirect.
