Online multiplayer network VATSIM has opened applications for testers of their upcoming new voice codec. This is a much awaited new feature, as many consider the current standard of audio on VATSIM to be very outdated.

In a post on Facebook, the developers posted a link to a website where you can sign up for more information.

Through a private messaging application, Matt Bartels, VATGOV10, has confirmed to us that this is not an April Fools joke, saying "It would be tomorrow if it were an April Fools joke - very much real".

You can sign up for the beta program here - once you have, the email tied to your VATSIM account will receive a message which reads;

"Thanks for signing up for the voice beta. We will be selecting people to load test the new voice infrastructure in stages. You will receive further information when selected by email - thanks again for your support!"

Thank you to user SteveXP3D for confirming with VATGOV10 that this is in fact not an April Fools joke over on the Threshold Discord server - your work is much appreciated!
