VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain Project Update to Land Soon
In yet more Douglas DC-3 news, VSKYLABS has announced that the update process for their C-47 Skytrain Flying Lab Project will “start soon”.
The news, shared through a post on VSKYLABS Facebook page, stated that the aircraft is going through a “virtual restoration” updating many key areas of aircraft including the cockpit and the lighting in the cockpit.
The post detailing the updates read:
“The project is quite complex and it is going through a step-by-step, "virtual restoration" process.
“The upcoming update is going to be a progressive update phase, in which every few days, a batch of updates will be injected into the project via the included STMA autoupdater plugin”
The Douglas DC-3 is an airliner produced between 1936–1942 and in 1950 with a total of 607 being built. The aircraft still sees service today primarily with private collectors or restorers. The C-47 is the military variant of the DC-3 with a much greater amount of 10,174 being built. The aircraft has served a crucial role in battles throughout many years, including the D-Day landings.
In another post earlier in the day today the developer went into more detail on how the update process will work:
“The progressive update phase should begin soon, and will of course include many sub-phases. Stay tuned for more!”
