XPRealistic Pro V2 Status Update
Eleven months ago, the developer behind XPRealistic Pro, RKApps, announced a substantial upgrade to the popular plugin XPRealstic Pro.
At present, the addon - which adds various immersion effects such as camera shaking, sound effects and more - is being rewritten as a standalone plugin, and away from FlyWithLua.
But as the current version of the plugin nears three years without a significant update, users have been questioning whether development is still ongoing.
RKApps has indeed kept relatively silent, but today's progress report helps see what has been accomplished so far.
Completed:
- Preparations for standalone plugin
- Software architecture / design
- XPR core implementation
- Aircraft profiles
- User settings
In progress:
- Existing effects adoption
To do:
- Renewed / improved sounds
- TrackIR compatibility
- X-Camera compatibility
- VR Support (currently unavailable)
- Helicopter initial effects
- User Interface (UI)
- Analytics
- 3rd parties compatibility tests
- Alpha
- Beta
- Release
- New features (ongoing development)
A wishlist thread was also opened up, allowing users to post their thoughts on what they would like to see in the new version. This is available to view here.
Furthermore, Roy advised in a separate post last week that "any immersion that includes heading/roll camera movements" do not work in the Vulkan beta, and that the temporary workaround is the use of X-Camera.
The plugin is available for purchase from the Threshold Store and x-plane.org for US $19.99. RKApps is available to follow on Facebook.
