Freeflight
Not many people know this, but Orbx, a well-known scenery development group in flight sim, aside from payware addons, also features a big number of freeware sceneries, plugins, and aircraft!
Let’s begin with sceneries first! On the website, you can find sceneries for simulators ranging from well-used ones, such as MSFS, X-Plane, and P3D, to lesser-used ones, such as Aerofly 2. Here you will find many amazing hand-crafted airfields and airports all around the world, as well as some scenery libraries and scenery enhancements.
My personal favourite is ENOV - Ørsta-Volda Airport. A small airfield in Western Norway, hidden between many fjords and mountainous terrain, with challenging approaches and a short runway. This is just one of many amazing freewares you can find in the Freeware section of the Orbx website.
Along with airfields, you can also download scenery of the breathtaking Yosemite and Iceland mesh.
Next stop - Aircraft! You can find quite a few WWII old-timers such as P-40, B-17 Stratofortress, C-47, DC-3 Dakota, He-111 P2 Heinkel, Bristol Bulldog, Hawker Hurricane, and many more legends of aviation. Several General Aviation aircraft are also available: Tencam P2010, T-39 Sabreliner, Zlin Z-50, Socata MS893, and more.
Last but not least, we have Liveries and plugins!
One of the most popular flight trackers, used by thousands of people every day - Volanta, is one of Orbx’s freewares. This flight tracker will track all the data you might be interested in, from your groundspeed, altitude, heading, and time remaining, to the interesting ones such as landing rate and G-force during landing. You can also keep track of flight time and the number of flights you’ve done with a certain aircraft.
Many high-quality liveries are also available, you can find liveries for older aircraft, such as DC-3 and Stratoliners, for some modern aircraft - CRJ900, B787, and A320neo, or if you prefer flying low and slow while enjoying the scenery around you, Orbx has got you covered!
We hope you liked this No Money Monday edition! Let us know in the comments what you think about these sceneries and aircraft.
