No Money Mondays: Simikot Airport

In this week’s rendition of No Money Monday, we’re off to the high mountains of Nepal to visit the amazing rendition of Simikot Airport by Sergio Del Rosso.
Simikot Airport is nestled high in the Himalayas, at a staggering 9,245 feet (2,818m) above sea level. It serves the Humla District, and because road access in the region is weak, the airport is the main hub for travel in the district. It is also the main tourist gateway for the Nepalese side of Mount Kailash.
It has one runway, and at a length of just 1,801 feet (549m) requires smaller aircraft with STOL capabilities like the de Havilland Twin Otter, and with mountains surrounding the airport on all sides, the approach is one of the most dangerous in the world!
The simulator rendition of Simikot features: custom town, 3D people, custom night lighting, custom terrain data, high detail textures, accurate airport layout, and much more!
This is Sergio Del Rosso’s sixth airport, with all of his scenery portfolio being free. He has made airports mainly in higher regions or among mountains, such as San Moritz in Switzerland, and Lhasa Gonggar Airport, which is not too far from Simikot in Nepal.
You can find this amazing scenery at flightsim.to
Catch us next week to see where the freeware fun heads to next!
